UAE residents can look forward to a bumper four-day weekend if the government confirms and agrees to the dates mentioned above. Eid Al Fitr is usually celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, the tenth month of the Islamic calendar. However, the exact date varies depending on the sighting of the new moon. Islamic months last for 29 or 30 days, depending on when the moon is sighted. Ramadan will last for 29 days this year, according to astronomical calculations. According to a Dubai Media Office report, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has directed the early disbursement of April salaries for federal government employees. The move is aimed at enabling employees and their families to enjoy the festive occasion. As per the directive, federal government employees will receive their salaries starting from Monday, April 17.
