Gitex Africa: Dubai tech firm DVCOM is ready to launch global collaboration solutions

Gitex Global, the mega tech showcase, is embarking on a new journey into Africa, leveraging a 42-year legacy of connecting tech titans, governments, startups, investors and global innovation hubs, to accelerate, collaborate, and explore new ventures in the world’s rising tech continent. The inaugural Gitex Africa will take place from May 31 to June 2, 2023, in Marrakech, Morocco.

Various companies in the region is eyeing a ‘stellar foray’ into Africa next year, riding high on the success of their ‘biggest Gitex edition in over a decade’. The five-day event closed at the Dubai World Trade Centre on October 14, with a host of exciting new science and technology innovation launches that included 3D talking heads, flying cars and automated taxis. Around 5,000 companies showcased their latest tech across two million square feet of exhibition space, a 25 per cent year-on-year increase divided into 26 halls. 

Tech firm DVCOM, that showcased some of their solutions for on-ground as well as hybrid or cloud enabled offices and other collaborative systems for future workplaces amongst others during the annual tech showpiece, is now hoping to take its own Dubai success to the second-largest continent next summer when the biggest tech gathering of its kind embarks on its all-new African journey. 

“We just can’t wait to get started in a continent that’s largely untapped after a resounding chapter here in Dubai this year,” said Renjan George, MD of DVCOM. Last month, DVCOM pitched tent for a partners meet in Tanzania, their first destination in Africa as part of their plans to set up distribution channels across the entire continent. “We were there to test waters with our edtech partners OneScreen and going by the rousing reception we got in cities like Dodoma and Dar es Salaam from distributors, resellers and other channel partners, we know we have to be back there soon,” said Sabu Thomas, VP of DVCOM.

GITEX Africa opens for the first time in Marrakech in partnership with the Digital Development Agency (DDA), a strategic public entity leading the Moroccan government’s digital transformation agenda under the authority of the Moroccan Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform.

“The African tech ecosystem grew phenomenally in 2021 and continues in 2022 on the same lines. Imagine the boost an African edition of the Gitex will give next summer with capital investments hitting all-time high,” explained Thomas, who is all set to launch global enterprise communication and collaboration solutions leaders like Yealink and Yeastar and smart intercom pioneers Akuvox in Africa besides OneScreen, a worldwide leader in smart school tech providers in the wake of what he calls has been his “best Gitex year in over a decade”. 

This year’s Gitex saw not only record footfall because of relaxation in Covid rules, but also a buzz like never. It was a reflection of the massive growth in the global ICT market valued at over $323.26b last year and expected to grow at a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.6 per cent to reach $466.11bn by 2026. 

“There’s no doubt that the way we do our business today has changed forever already in the wake of Covid-19 and there’s no way we are going back on the tech advancements we have made as a whole community since. And so now is the best time to unleash our portfolio of technologies,” concluded George.
