Ramadan: Working hours for federal govt employees announced

The UAE has truncated official working hours for the month of Ramadan for both the public and private sector.

Federal government entities will work from 9am through to 2.30pm from Monday to Thursday, and from 9am until 12pm on Fridays during the Holy month, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) said.

FAHR added that ministries and federal authorities could implement flexible working or remote work schedules during Ramadan in line with their specific requirements.

Meanwhile, employees working across the country’s private sector will have a reduction of two working hours per day, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation said.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is expected to begin on March 22 this year. It is a month widely observed by Muslims around the world as one of fasting, prayer and reflection.
