Tier Mobility, Europe’s shared micro-mobility provider, has expanded its fleet in Bahrain following a deal with real-estate developer Diyar Al Muharraq, which is set to go live this month.

The expansion is in line with the German company’s plan to reach a broader audience in the country and support the demand for e-scooter services, which aligns directly with Diyar Al Muharraq’s ambition to provide residents and visitors with a sustainable mode of transportation within their community.

The e-scooters will be available in various locations across the town, allowing residents to readily access them to assist their first-last mile journeys.

Tier launched its services in Bahrain over six months ago and has since seen an increase in the demand of shared micro-mobility services. As future plans, the German company is looking to also bring it’s latest generation of e-bikes to Manama in the coming weeks to even further increase it’s offering to the residents of the city.

The Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB) has been a critical partner in making this partnership happen between the two entities. Tier plans to invest heavily into the growth of the micro-mobility industry in the country in the coming years and EDB’s support is critical in this expansion.

The Berlin-based company’s local and regional team has worked closely with MTT to guarantee that Tier’s e-scooters will be available in the most accessible places for residents across Bahrain.

Amir Melad, general manager, Middle East of Tier, commented, “We’ve witnessed a positive response from residents across the country and will continue to further expand the fleet to meet our vision and goal to launch e-bikes by 2022. The e-bikes will provide our customers with an additional means of travel, allowing them to cover longer distances.”

Last year, Tier expanded its GCC operations to Doha, Qatar.

The micro-mobility provider had then said that its scooters will be located close to central transport hubs as well as other busy spots across Doha.
