Saudi Air Defence forces intercepted and destroyed three ballistic missiles and three bomb-laden drones launched by the Houthis towards the Eastern Province, Jazan and Najran on Saturday, Brigadier general Turki Al-Malki, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Defense said. One the missiles launched from Sana’a, targeting the Eastern province, was destroyed at 9.32pm on Saturday evening, and caused debris to scatter across the Dahyat Al-Dammam neighbourhood, which resulted in the injury of two Saudi children – female and male – and minimal damages to 14 houses, the SPA report added. #صور pic.twitter.com/S4lPO6qSec — واس العام (@SPAregions) September 5, 2021 “This brutal, irresponsible behaviour by the militia, through the attempted targeting of civilians and civilian objects, contradicts all humanitarian principles, and reflects the reality of the military operations’ conduct on the ground; as the militia’s positions in the battlefronts have severely deteriorated, and it has suffered heavy losses,” Al-Malki said. He stressed that Saudi’s Ministry of Defence will undertake “all necessary and deterrent measures to protect its territory and national capacities, stop the hostile, cross-boarder acts of aggression and safeguard civilians and civilian objects in accordance with the customary international humanitarian law”. The attacks were strongly condemned by the UAE, Bahrain, the Arab Parliament and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The OIC said it condemns the “terrorist practices” committed by the Houthis and those who stand behind it and provide it with money and weapons, considering that these acts are “war crimes”. Saudi Arabia has been facing an increasing number of attacks by the Houthis in recent weeks. On Friday, Saudi forces had intercepted two Houthi drone attacks. Last week, eight people were injured and an Airbus A320 airplane was damaged following a drone attack on Abha airport. It was the second such attack on the airport in 24 hours.
